SAFETY FIRST
The mining industry continues to push for higher standards of safety and productivity. To meet these demands, we are committed to the ongoing development of safer, more reliable products, supported by detailed manuals and training resources that ensure their safe and effective use in the field.
IT’S ALL ABOUT EVERYONE’S HEALTH
Ensuring a safer workplace and promoting the well-being of your workforce is a top priority for us. The safety of everyone who comes into contact with our products is paramount. That’s why we proactively identify and assess potential risk factors that could impact the health and safety of your team. All our products are designed and manufactured to meet the highest safety standards, giving you confidence in their performance and reliability.
BE AWARE OF ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES
We strongly urge all personnel to follow safety instructions at all times. Key guidelines include:
• Never work under unsupported roofs or in proximity to potential pinch points.
• Stay alert to hazards such as loose roofs, unstable ribs, and the risk of coal bursts.
• Always use temporary roof supports where required, and ensure that roofs and ribs are scaled down before bolting begins.
• Early roof bolting is essential—begin bolting as soon as it is safe and practical to do so within the mining process.
FRICTION BOLTS
FEATURES
• The Friction Bolt is manufactured from high-strength steel tubing with a longitudinal slot running its entire length. A ring or collar is welded to the outer end to secure a domed plate against the rock surface.
• The 47mm Friction Bolt is not suitable for use with hand-held rock drills and requires mechanized installation.
• Friction Bolts can be load tested by attaching a special ring prior to installation. Pull tests are performed using a hollow ram hydraulic jack.
• All our bolts are fully galvanized for enhanced corrosion protection.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
• The hole length should be longer than the bolt, nominally 150 mm, to allow for any rock fretting during installation.
• The Friction Bolt is inserted into the hole. The driving dolly is fitted into the rock drill’s chuck, and then the bolt (with accessories) is placed onto the dolly.
• Using full percussion and thrust, the bolt is fully driven into the hole until the domed plate is firmly against the rock surface. Care should be taken to ensure the rock drill’s feed/thrust is in the same orientation as the hole, or the bolt may be bent during installation.
